Noun Clause


NOUN CLAUSES

1.       Intro
Does kurosaki live there?
I know where kurosaki lives
Jadi noun clausenya adalah “where kurosaki lives”
Contoh lain :       I am watching his film
                                I am watching what he made
Noun clause adalah : sebuah kalimat yang tidak lengkap yang digunakan untuk menggantikan fungsi sebuah noun

2.       Noun Clause dimulai dengan Question word
Contohnya :       where does she live ? - I don’t know where she lives
                                What did you do ? - I don’t know what you did
Did/do/does akan hilang jika fungsinya sebagai auxiliary di noun clause
Contoh lain :
Who is she? - I don’t know who she is
Why did they do it - I don’t know why they did it
What should we do? - I don’t know what we should do

3.       Noun clause dimulai dengan whether atau if
Biasanya noun clause yang dimulai dengan whether atau if dipakai pada yes/no question, contohnya
Will she come? - I wonder if she will come (or not) “or not” boleh dipakai boleh juga tidak
- Could you tell me whether she will come (or not) “or not” boleh dipakai boleh juga tidak
- Whether she comes or not is unimportant for me

4.       Question words diikuti dengan invinitif
Question words dan whether boleh diikuti infinitve, dan biasanya infinitive menggantikan kata should/can/could
- I don’t know what I should do --- I don’t know what to do
è- I know what I can do – I know what I to do

5.       Noun clause dimulai dengan “that”
That biasanya digunakan untuk memberi keterangan suatu noun dan biasanya dihilangkan
- I think that he is a player football
- That he is a player football is obvious
- It is obvious that he is player football

6.       Quoted speech
Penggunaan koma dan titik untuk membuat kalimat langsung
She said , “ you are good boy.”
“ you are good boy,” she said.
“you,” she said ,”are good boy.”
She said,” are you a good boy?”
She said, “ you are a good boy. You will be good man.”
“you are a good boy,” she said. “ you will be good man.”
“let’s go,” shout jhonny.

7.       Reported Speech : verb forms in noun clause
Reported speech digunakan sebuah noun clause untuk melaporkan apa yang diucapkan oleh seseorang
Semuanya dirubah kebentuk yang berbeda-beda yaitu past form, kecuali should, ought, might dan kalimat yang reporting verbnya menggunakan present tense, present perfect, future. (says, will say, has said). Dan jika menggungkapkan sesuatu yang umum dan nyata.
“I watched TV ” -> she said (that) she had watched TV
“I have to watched TV” -> she said (that) she had to watched TV
“I had watched TV ” -> she said (that) she had watched TV
“I am boy “ -> she said that I am boy
Can -> could
May -> might
Will -> would

8.       Using the subjunctive in noun clause
Subjunctive verb menggunakan simple form dari sebuah verb,  tidak memiliki present, past dan future form
Negative : not + simple form -> the teacher recommended that we not go to the concert
Passive : be + past participle -> it is important that they be told the truth

Biasanya subjunctive di pakai bersama dengan
Advise, ask, demand, insist, propose, recommend, request, suggest, it is essential, it is imperative, it is important, it is critical, it is necessary, it is vital

9.       Using –ever words
Whoever – whoever wants to come is welcome
Who(m)ever -  she goes with whomever she wants
Whatever - apapun
Whichever – pilihan
Whenever – waktu , kapanpun
Wherever – dimanapun
However – any way that , bagaimanapun à the stydent may dress however they please
